Advanced Teaching and Learning Practitioners in Leadership and Management

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Be responsible for enhancing the quality of the Leadership and Management curriculum at all levels through carrying out quality assurance activities in line with Ixion’s quality assurance policies.
  • Demonstrate and disseminate innovation and best practice in teaching, learning and assessment across all levels of the Leadership and Management curriculum helping to ensure that very high standards of teaching, assessment IAG, and any other interaction are achieved and that standards are continually challenged for improvement.
  • Carry out observations of all learner interactions in line with Ixion’s observation policy and process with a focus on Leadership and Management programmes at all levels ensuring that each teaching assessor has in place a robust development plan with clear targets set to support continuous improvement.
  • Achieve the required standard of lesson observations and improve the overall grading profile as determined by Ixion’s Observation policy.
  • Support and develop teaching assessors to use appropriate teaching, learning and assessment methods to inform planning, ensuring that learning and teaching goals are attained and achievement is appropriately recorded.
  • Ensure all learners receive the support they require to meet their individual learning needs and are provided with appropriate stretch and challenge to meet their full potential and are fully prepared for end point assessment achieving their highest possible grade.
  • Working in collaboration with the Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare Officer, lead on the embedding of equality and diversity and individualised learning across the Leadership and Management curriculum areas.
  • Working in collaboration with the Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare Officer, lead on the embedding of British Values, Safeguarding/Prevent, PDBW across the Leadership and Management curriculum areas.
  • Working in collaboration with the Advanced Teaching and Learning Practitioner (Functional Skills) lead on the embedding and promotion of English and maths across all Leadership and Management curriculum areas and improve both the percentage pass rate of Functional English and Maths and also challenge all learners to achieve the highest level they can. 
  • Address individual Leadership and Management teaching assessor performance issues which are deemed to be below the required standards and if necessary engage with their line managers to support the resolution of identified areas of concern together and through providing CPD/coaching and mentoring.

     

 

Person Specification

 

  • Assessor Award
  • Teaching qualification such as a Diploma in Education and Training or equivalent or working towards either PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS
  • Extensive experience in a teaching, learning and assessment role within the adult/further education/work-based learning sector
  • Experience of Apprenticeships provision
  • Occupational expertise and extensive experience of working within the Leadership & Management sector and as an experienced practitioner within this sector
  • Due to the travel required applicants must hold a full driving licence and have full access to their own vehicle

     

    Desirable  

  • IQA qualification
  • Experience of working within the Higher Education sector
  • Subject specialist qualification in English/Mathematics

     

 

All Roles will require a satisfactory DBS Disclosure check due to the nature of the work to be undertaken.
