Cheif Executive Officer

Mentor UK founded in 1998 is part of the group of charities, affiliated with the Mentor International Foundation. The organisation provides support to youth in over 80 countries reaching more than 6 million children. Mentor International, together with Mentor UK and the other Mentor organisations around the world, is the leading international not-for-profit network empowering youth and preventing substance abuse.

 

With the scale and complexity of the drugs landscape rarely far from the headlines, and the ease with which new substances are available to young people, Mentor UK as an organisation has never played a more crucial role as the voice of prevention and in protecting our young people from the harms that the misuse of drugs and alcohol can bring.

 

The Charity wish to appoint an outstanding individual to ensure that Mentor UK continues to be the voice for the drugs prevention sector, working with policy makers at the highest levels to help shape drugs education and ensure that best practice prevails amongst service providers, parents, carers and local communities.

 

The Chief Executive will have responsibility for the Charity’s financial stability, overseeing its income and teams based in London and Scotland.

 

The CEO will:

 

    •       Provide new and dynamic strategic vision and motivational leadership involving new world thinking and, reflecting Mentor’s core values and ethos

    •       Secure and drive new streams of funding and revenue to ensure financial stability

    •       Ensure long term sustainability through sound astute financial management and delivery of services

    •       Be accountable in conjunction with your team for developing and expanding current programmes and new services

    •       Work with the Board of Trustees to achieve appropriate governance and legal compliance

    •       To continue to raise the profile of the Charity, establishing and maintaining relationships and networks with a wide range of stakeholders in both the Private and Public Sectors

 

The Successful Candidate:

 

    •       Will be a passionate, self-driven and forward-thinking individual with proven experience as a senior leader and a track record in driving growth and advancement in their organisation.

    •       Experience gained within a Charity is not essential, but it is crucial that there is a desire to fulfil the charitable mission of Mentor UK.

    •       Will have exceptional interpersonal skills and be able to build strong relationships at all levels

    •       Will be an Inspirational Leader, who will develop and encourage a small, loyal team to continue to deliver their outstanding work

    •       Excellent commercial record of achievement and a portfolio of success of which you are proud

    •       Ability to think outside of the box and think creatively to solve old world problems

    •       Strong communication and presentation skills to deliver high performance and motivate and inspire others to success is also essential.

 

Qualifications:

 

A relevant degree or equivalent

Evidence of commitment to continuous professional development

 

 

Other

 

Some travel throughout the UK and Europe 

This is a full time post, salary Circa £75k
