Part Time Youth Support Workers - Stroud

We are recruiting for a Youth Support Worker to support vulnerable young people and those with complex needs to make effective transitions into adulthood. You'll establish relationships with young people and support them in engaging activities and develop life skills, helping them overcome barriers to participation and achievement.  Working in partnership with young people with young people (including consultation), colleagues and other related agencies to ensure a cohesive response.

 

You will support a range of young people including NEET young people, young offenders, care leavers, homeless, runaways, mental health and alcohol and substance misuse issues and young people with disabilities/LDD.

 

You'll work 6 hrs per week and must be able to work outside of normal office hours including weekends.

 

Person Specification

 

  • NVQ/VRQ level 2 or 3 certificate in Youth Work qualification or approved equivalents
  • Experience in Youth Work
  • Experince of working with young people, their families and communities, particulary those at risk of social and educational exclusion
  • Experience of providing young people with practical support and guidance
  • Experience of developing and maintaining relationships with young people and dealing with challenging and difficult behaviour
  • Ability to work flexibly and respond to the needs of the service and users
  • Enthusiastic and energetic in engaging with young people
  • An understanding of and commitment to promoting equality and diversity
  • Able to work evening and weekends
  • Undertake travel across the county
